11/22/13:  Test Correction!

Ok, so here’s the deal.  Here is the test.  For each answer that you answered incorrectly you must:

  1. Give me the correct answer
  2. Explain why it is the correct answer
  3. Note why you chose the answer you did

For each appropriate correction you can earn back a half a point.

10/25/13:  Everyman Extra Credit

Listen to the following songs and write a one page analysis (with lyrical support) showing the connections to the play.

OR

The Hartford Stage (http://www.hartfordstage.org/)  is putting on a performance of La Dispute (1744), a French Comedy, and Macbeth (1606), a Shakespearean Tragedy.  Attend either performance and write a one page analysis detailing how the plays we’ve read thus far have had an influence upon these “later” plays.  Pay attention to aspects of dialogue, hamartia, staging, costuming, plot lines, etc.

Listen to the following songs and comment on how they represent aspects of the play.  (To comment, simply hit “leave a reply”, fill out your email address <to prove to the site you are a human>, put your name, and type away)  For an even greater response, recommend a song or two that would have been in Medea’s IPod as she was preparing her revenge and explain how they reply.

EXTRA CREDIT!!!

Go here –> http://www.ap-english.com/home/Oedipus_files/Jocasta.pdf and read the “Jocasta” poem by Ruth Eisenberg.  Then write a one-page response answering the following (DUE MONDAY):

1)  Does the poem change your opinion on Jocasta?

2)  What is the feminist message presented within the poem?

OR

Choose two stanzas from the poem.  Copy it down.  Then, write Oedipus’ response instead of Jocasta’s. How would his voice be different than Jocasta’s? What different themes would he emphasize?
